The message of the song is that there might be better days ahead. This song begs for people to not give up and keep moving along. As mental illnesses are still considered taboo in a lot of societies, they go unaddressed and untreated. Most of these people suffer from clinical depression or related mental illnesses. Each year, more than 700000 people commit suicide worldwide. The song “Move Along” is about depression, a calamity that is global in nature. The whole album deals with themes like depression, giving up, motivation, and alienation in Western society. For instance, the music video for “It ends tonight” debuted at no. Various songs from this album topped the charts around the world. “Move Along” is the title track of their second studio album of the same name, “Move Along”. The album was certified platinum and with it, the band had established a place for themselves in the American music industry. Their self-titled debut album took the alternative rock world by storm. It was in 2003 when the band rose to mainstream popularity. Most of their songs are written by Kennerty and Ritter. Wheeler is the lead guitarist of the band and also chips in for backing vocals. Kennerty takes care of the rhythm guitar and back-up vocals. The following are the band’s members: Tyson Ritter, Mike Kennerty, Nick Wheeler, and Chris Gaylor. The band dabbles in alternative rock, emo pop, power pop, pop-rock, pop-punk, and associated genres. Also this side shot has bushes and green in it which you don’t see in the beginning which connote a sign of hope and ‘moving along’.The band All-American Rejects was formed in 1999 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The messages in this video are so important and so powerful that this angle and the slow down speed of the arms raising bring this all back. The shot starts with the same shot as the opening Tyson slowing falling backwards into a pool, however, this time the angle changes and you see a mosh of people there to capture him. The montage is one of my favourite clips in any music video as it is so clever and is really effective, lots of quick cuts between lots of different footage and it is so effective.Ībout two thirds of the way though there is a call back shot to the opening and again this is why this shot is effective and makes this shot so powerful. In every shot Tyson Ritter who plays more then one character, is positioned in exactly the same frame of the camera to create this really fantastic edit between all of the shots. It is really hard to describe it in a still but have a look at the video at the top – there is a reason that I love this video and it is the chorus. Also the editing to slow the fall down really impact what the visual is trying to say. The editing to the sound is very quiet and the way that it is color graded to focus on the blue is really effective. If you look at the lyrics and the rest of the visuals of this video you will see it is all about pushing yourself to move on from something bad and opening up the video with a shot of someone falling like this off of a diving board sort of connotes the emotions of someone in a downwards spiral. The introduction to this video is really interesting and also pretty powerful. One is a doctor, one lives alone and then lots of other situations that people need to ‘move along’ from. There is no real information to confirm it but the video follows different narratives where there is a lot of sadness in that persons life all played by Tyson Ritter. However, saying that, another reason that this video is on this list is that the editing is phenomenal and blew me away the first time I saw it. It is really uplifting and has some really powerful lyrics. This song I feel has a really important message and it is one of those songs that whenever I hear it, the music instantly puts me in a good mood. Why did you choose this particular video?
